Shared Health(R) Names New Chief Operating Officer

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., July 15 /PRNewswire/ — Shared Health, Inc., the nation’s largest public/private health information exchange (HIE), has named information technology and medical systems veteran Linda A. Matern, M.Ed., as its new chief operating officer (COO).
Matern comes to Shared health from C2Medpartners, Inc., a professional services consulting company in the health information technology space, where she served as chief executive officer and managing partner for the past four years. Prior to working at C2Medpartners, Inc., Matern led Siemens Global Services’ group of Siemens Medical Solutions USA, Inc., for nearly 10 years, providing senior-level global leadership to the information technology and medical equipment services group. During this time, she managed a nearly 300-member professional services practice that provided financial, clinical, compliance, information technology optimization and outcomes-focused healthcare consulting for nearly 3,000 hospital-based customers and prospects.

During her more than 30-year career, Matern has worked for many healthcare companies including MHM (Mental health Management), Tenet Healthcare, Healthways and Charter Medical Group. In her roles at these organizations, she has worked in marketing, sales and operations, often working closely with clinicians and hospitals. Most recently, she has helped transition healthcare organizations from a “paper to a paperless” electronic health record (EHR) environment.
Matern graduated from the University of Charleston in Charleston, W. Va., with a Bachelor of Arts degree and from the College of New Jersey in Trenton, N.J., with a Master of Education degree.
